Managing Domains by Profile

The OpenSRS Reseller Control Panel lets you manage every domain attached to a registrant profile in one place. Grouping domains under a single profile lets registrants sign in to the end-user portal (MWI) and manage all of their domains from one account. Use this guide to find domains by profile and to merge multiple domains under a single profile.

How profile-based domain management works

Each domain in your account is tied to a registrant profile. When several domains belong to the same registrant, merging them under one profile means the registrant only needs one login at the end-user portal (MWI). From the Reseller Control Panel, you can search for the profile a domain belongs to and bulk-merge domains into a new or existing profile.

Before you begin

  • Sign in to the OpenSRS Reseller Control Panel.

  • Make sure your user has permission to manage domains and profiles. See.

  • Know at least one domain name belonging to the profile you want to search or merge into.

  • If you plan to create a new profile during a merge, prepare a username and password for the registrant.

Step 1: Search domains by profile

  1. Sign in to the Reseller Control Panel.

  2. Click the Domains tab.

  3. Select the Profiles filter next to the quick filter box.

  4. Enter the domain name and click Validate. The system checks that the domain is valid and looks up any associated profile.

    • If a profile is found, the system displays "This domain is attached to a profile." Click Apply filter to list every domain attached to that profile.

    • If no match is found, the system displays "We were unable to find a match to the domain entered. Please try another domain."

Step 2: Merge domains into one profile

  1. Sign in to the Reseller Control Panel.

  2. Click the Domains tab.

  3. Select every domain you want to merge.

  4. Click the Bulk actions drop-down and choose Merge into one profile.

  5. Choose one of the following:

    • Create a new profile — enter a username and password for the registrant.

    • Add to existing profile — enter a domain that already belongs to that profile, then click Validate.

  6. Click Save to merge the selected domains.

Note: The merge does not complete instantly. It runs in the background. Monitor progress from the bulk actions icon in the top-right corner of the Reseller Control Panel.

What registrants see after a merge

Once domains are merged under a profile, the registrant can sign in at the end-user portal (MWI) to manage every domain from one interface. When you select a domain from the list in the Reseller Control Panel, a banner appears at the top — for example, "Now managing abctesting.com" — confirming which domain you are currently working on.

Next steps

  • Notify registrants — let merged registrants know they can now manage all of their domains from a single MWI login.

  • Set up permissions for your team — see to control who in your organization can merge or edit profiles.

  • Bulk action monitoring — check the bulk actions queue periodically until the merge status shows complete.
