Sender Policy Framework (SPF) is a technical standard and email authentication technique that helps protect email senders and recipients from spam, spoofing and phishing. SPF defines a way to validate that an email message was sent from an authorized mail server to detect forgery and help prevent spam.
SPF record
The OpenSRS email platform provides service through Cluster A and Cluster B clusters.
For both clusters, include the string _spf.hostedemail.com in the SPF record. For example:
v=spf1 include:_spf.hostedemail.com ~all
Note: For help creating or validating the SPF record, please refer to the SPF creation wizard and the SPF Record Testing Tools pages.
Adding SPF records with SystemDNS nameservers
To add an SPF record for a domain using our systemdns.com nameservers, create a TXT record on the root of the domain:
- Log in to the Reseller Control Panel (RCP).
- Enter the domain name in the search field.
- Click Search.
- Click on the domain name from the search results.
- Click Edit in the DNS section.
- Select TXT from the add record drop-down menu.
- Enter your record in the text field.
- Click Save DNS settings.
Email notifications to registrants
OpenSRS uses the reseller technical contact as the from address for messages to registrants. To ensure message delivery to registrants, please include registrarmail.net in the SPF record of the domain configured as the technical email address of a reseller account.
include:registrarmail.net
