By default, your Storefront prices and bills customers in USD. Multi-currency support lets you offer additional currencies so customers can browse, purchase, and renew in their preferred currency. This is particularly useful if your customers are primarily based outside the United States.
Supported currencies are: USD, CAD (Canadian dollar), GBP (British pound), AUD (Australian dollar), and EUR (Euro).
Currencies are opt-in — adding them does not affect your existing USD pricing or any customers already on your store. USD remains available unless you explicitly hide it.
How exchange rates work
Storefront does not automatically convert your prices. When you add a currency, you enter the exchange rate you want to use — for example, 1 USD = 1.40 CAD. This is your rate, not a live market rate, so you control the margin.
To help you set an informed rate, Storefront displays the current market exchange rate alongside your entered rate. This reference rate is updated nightly. You can edit your rate at any time.
Once you set a rate and save, Storefront applies it across all your TLD prices in that currency. If you have price rounding enabled, rounding is applied after the conversion — so a $16.00 USD domain at 1.40 CAD would convert to $22.40 CAD, then round to $22.99 or $23.00 depending on your rounding setting.
Adding a currency
- Log in to Storefront Manager.
- Go to Settings → Pricing.
- Click Add Currency.
- Select a currency from the dropdown (CAD, GBP, AUD, or EUR).
- Enter your exchange rate from USD to that currency.
- Optionally, toggle Set as default currency if you want this currency to be the one customers see by default.
- Click Save.
Once saved, all your TLD prices are calculated in the new currency using the rate you entered. Individual TLD prices can be adjusted separately if needed — see Adjusting prices per currency below.
Managing currencies
After adding currencies, each appears in your pricing settings. From the three-dot menu on any currency you can:
- Edit — update the exchange rate, or set the currency as default
- Set as default — make this currency the one customers see when their location doesn't match another offered currency
- Delete — remove the currency from your store (see note below)
Setting a default currency
Your default currency is what customers see when Storefront cannot determine their location, or when their location doesn't match any currency you offer. USD is the default until you change it.
To change the default, open any non-default currency via the three-dot menu and select Set as default. Once another currency is default, the USD entry will offer the same option if you want to restore it.
Hiding USD
If you want to prevent customers from purchasing in USD — for example, if your store is exclusively for Canadian customers — you can hide USD rather than delete it. Open the USD entry, select Edit, and toggle the hide option. Customers will no longer see USD on your storefront. A confirmation will explain the impact before you confirm.
To show USD again, edit the USD entry and reverse the toggle.
Deleting a currency
Deleting a currency removes it from your store. Any customers whose account currency was set to the deleted currency will be moved to your default currency for all future purchases.
You cannot delete your default currency. Set another currency as default first, then delete the previous one.
Adjusting prices per currency
When you add a currency, all TLD prices are calculated from your global markup settings using the entered rate. You can override prices for individual TLDs if needed.
On the TLD pricing page, you can switch between currencies using the currency filter to review prices. When editing an individual TLD:
- If pricing by markup percentage, the markup applies uniformly and Storefront shows you the resulting price in each currency you offer.
- If pricing by final price, you set a specific price for each currency independently. When you enter the USD price, Storefront pre-fills the other currency fields using your exchange rates — you can accept those or override them.
Add-on services (such as Contact Privacy) also need to be priced in each currency. When you add a new currency, add-on prices are pre-filled at the USD price multiplied by your exchange rate, and can be adjusted from there.
Note: Recurring billing products use this same ratio-based approach. If you add a new currency after a product already has pricing set, Storefront calculates a starting price in the new currency from your existing price ratios, which you can then adjust. See Creating and Managing Products in Storefront for details.
What your customers experience
Currency at first visit
When a customer first visits your storefront without being logged in, Storefront selects a display currency based on their detected location:
- United States → USD
- Canada → CAD
- Australia → AUD
- United Kingdom → GBP
- Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain → EUR
- Any other location → your store's default currency
If a customer is in a country that maps to a currency you don't offer, they see your default currency.
Changing currency
Customers can change their displayed currency from the navigation menu at any time. This updates prices on the page but does not change their saved account preference — it's a temporary view change.
To permanently change their billing currency for future renewals and purchases, customers update their currency preference in their account settings. Once changed, all future transactions use the new currency.
A customer's currency is set based on the currency used in their first purchase. Customers migrated from Legacy Storefront have their currency defaulted to USD.
Cart and checkout
If a customer is viewing the cart in a different currency than their saved preference, Storefront shows a notice at the review step explaining the discrepancy — for example: "You are currently viewing prices in CAD, but your saved preference is USD." The customer can proceed or adjust before completing the purchase.
Orders and reporting
Orders
The Orders list shows the currency for each order. You can filter the list by one or more currencies. Order details show all amounts in the currency that was charged at the time of purchase.
Reports
Storefront cannot accurately combine revenues across different currencies, so reports show a separate row for each currency. When generating a report, all currencies you have transactions in will be represented.
Gross margin and profit figures are only available for USD orders. For orders in other currencies, the revenue is shown in the purchase currency, the cost is shown in USD, and margin/profit columns display N/A.
The Income Statement report generates a separate statement for each currency when multiple currencies are selected.
The dashboard updates when you have transactions in multiple currencies: instead of a Net Income figure (which cannot be accurately combined across currencies), it shows a Cost table in USD alongside revenue broken out by currency.
Order confirmation emails
Order confirmation emails sent to customers reflect the currency and amounts charged at the time of purchase. Past receipts are not retroactively updated if a customer later changes their currency preference.
Event log
When a customer changes their preferred currency, an event is recorded on their customer event log in Storefront Manager. This gives you a record of when and how customer preferences changed.
Troubleshooting
A customer is seeing prices in the wrong currency
Check their saved currency preference on the Customer Details page in Storefront Manager. You can edit their preferred currency directly from there — you can only select from currencies your store currently offers.
I want to change my exchange rate
Open the currency via the three-dot menu in your pricing settings and select Edit. Update the rate and save. The new rate applies to all future price calculations; existing orders are not affected.
I can't delete a currency
You cannot delete the currency that is currently set as your default. Set a different currency as default first, then return to delete the previous one.
Gross margin shows N/A for some orders in my reports
Gross margin is only calculable for USD orders, because cost data from OpenSRS is in USD. For orders in other currencies, revenue and cost are shown separately but cannot be combined into a single margin figure.
