Actalis SSL product offerings

Actalis is a European Certification Authority that issues SSL Server certificates globally. The only Italian
member of the CAB Forum, Actalis is also qualified by the eIDAS (electronic IDentification Authentication and Signature) regulation to provide trust services, such as electronic and digital signatures.

Actalis is now partnered with Tucows to offer SSL products in our Reseller control panel (RCP) and through OSRS API.

Actalis certifications and accreditations

Actalis is a certification authority (CA) qualified by electronic IDentification Authentication and
Signature (eIDAS) to provide certified services, internationally recognized for issuing SSL Server certificates. It is one of Europe’s largest CAs and is in the top 10 worldwide for SSLs, according to Netcraft.

Actalis is the only Italian CA qualified per the eIDAS regulation to provide SSL certificates and is in the top 10 worldwide in terms of market share. In over 20 years as a CA, Actalis has worked with tens of millions of users and has established itself as a leading European provider of Trust services and solutions.

Actalis is the only Italian Certification Authority that is a member of the CAB Forum. It is also recognized as a Qualified Trust Service Provider in accordance with the eIDAS Regulation and appears in the OBE Directory as a service provider within the PSD2 framework.

eIDAS and ISO certification Actalis is recognized as complying with the requirements stipulated by the European eIDAS Regulation as a CA for issuing timestamps and SSL certificates. We are ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified.
Members of the CAB Forum Actalis is the only Italian Certification Authority that is a member of the CAB Forum. Our SSL Certificates are issued in accordance with the current version of the defined Baseline Requirements.
PSD2 Compliance Actalis is recognized as a Qualified Trust Service Provider in the OBE Directory for the provision of Qualified Website Authentication Certificate (QWAC) and QSealC services.
Data Center Rating 4 When delivering our Trust Services, we rely on Aruba Data Centers, which are certified to the highest resilience and infrastructure quality levels ANSI/TIA 942-B-2017 Rating 4.

Actalis SSL certificates offered

Actalis offers the complete range of SSL certificate levels:

Domain Validated (DV) SSL Certificate
  • Single Host, the certificate that only protects one domain e.g. shop.domainname.tld
  • Wildcard, the certificate that protects all the domains on the same level e.g. *.domainname.tld
    Note: Not applicable to EV Certificates.
  • Subject Alternative Name (SAN), the certificate that protects multiple, unrelated, separate domains.
Organization Validated (OV) SSL Certificate
  • Single Host, the certificate that only protects one domain e.g. shop.domainname.tld
  • Wildcard, the certificate that protects all the domains on the same level e.g. *.domainname.tld
    Note: Not applicable to EV Certificates.
  • Subject Alternative Name (SAN), the certificate that protects multiple, unrelated, separate domains.
Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificate
  • Single Host: only protects one domain e.g. shop.domainname.tld
  • Wildcard: protects all the domains on the same level e.g. *.domainname.tld
    Note: Not applicable to EV Certificates.
  • Subject Alternative Name (SAN): protects multiple, unrelated, separate domains.

Purchasing an Actalis SSL certificate

  1. In the Control Panel, click Trust.

  2. Press the + icon.

  3. Choose Actalis as the supplier and press the Select a service drop-down list to choose an Actalis SSL certificate.

    Note: If you are ordering a domain-vetted certificate, in the text field, enter the name of the domain with which you are associating the service.

  4. Select the desired SSL certificate, enter the domain name, and hit Continue to next step.

  5. Submit the CSR and select the appropriate web server.
    Note: Subject Alternative Name (SAN) names cannot be updated once the order has been submitted.

  6. Supply the organization contact.  If an organization number or VAT is required, only one must be submitted.

  7. Fill in the fields and click Submit.
    Note: All DV products only require admin contacts, and all OV/EV products require admin contacts plus organization contacts.
