This article explains the process of creating a mailbox and configuring email DNS both in the Reseller Control Panel (RCP) and the Mail Administration Console (MAC). It also provides configuration details if the mailbox user wishes to use an email client to set up their mail.

The RCP allows you to manage domains, email, trust, publishing, and other reseller account-related settings.The MAC interface is for administrating email accounts in the OpenSRS email service. Most functionality within the MAC is available within the RCP.
Create a mailbox account in the RCP
- Sign in to the RCP.
- Click on Email.
- Click on the blue + icon under Email domains.
- Enter the domain you would like to add. This will create the email domain in our system.
- Click on the Email users tab and then the blue + icon to add a new user.
- In the next screen, enter the first part of the email address and type in a password that you want to use the email. Then click on Add.
The email account is now created and looks like this.
Create a mailbox account in the MAC
- Based on your cluster settings use your browser to navigate to the MAC:
https://admin.<cluster>.hostedemail.com. - Click on Add domain.
- In the create domain pop up window, create the new domain name and complete your required setup. Click on Create from the bottom.
- Once the domain is created, users or mailboxes can be created under the domain name by clicking on Add users.
- A new create user window will pop up, and you can create the mailbox as per your requirement. Under Type, mailboxes can be set up as Mailbox, Forward or Filter. Under User, enter the mailbox name. Once completed click on Create from the bottom. If you wish to continue creating users click on Create & Repeat.
Configure the MX record to link to our mail server
If the domain's DNS service is managed through OpenSRS, please follow the instruction below. If not, please consult with the DNS/name server provider in order to change the MX record.
- Click on Domains tab on the upper left of your reseller control panel.
- Enter the domain name in the search box and press Search.
- In the search result, click on the domain name.
- Scroll down to the DNS section and click Edit.
- Click on Add record and choose MX.
- Enter the MX record under Hostname and click Save DNS settings. If your email service is on cluster B, please use the appropriate MX setting for cluster B.
The MX record is now set up and should look like this.
The domain is now linked to the email service. Please wait 15 minutes after modifying the MX record for the record to propagate. You can use any public DIG tool to see if the MX record is propagating.
Sign in to webmail
Sign in to the customer's webmail account after creating the mailbox by using the email address as the username and the password that you set above. The sign-in will depend on the email cluster of your reseller account.

Configure an email client
If the customer wishes to access email via an email client, please have the customer connect IMAP and SMTP. The mail servers are:

The number of mailboxes in the account is tabulated at the beginning of the month and the cost is deducted from the credit in the account at the end of the month. Therefore, if you are experimenting with mailboxes and delete them right after creating them, you will not be charged.
Email accounts that end in .adm are administrative accounts do not incur any charge.
Note: To prevent email accounts from being created for spamming, newly created email accounts will have limits on outgoing emails per day. The sending limit will increase over a two weeks period to 500 emails per rolling 24 hour period.
