OpenSRS Integration with HostBill

HostBill is a commercial web hosting billing and automation platform used by resellers to provision and bill for services. OpenSRS is integrated directly into HostBill, giving you a single interface to register domains, surface name suggestions, and sell SSL certificates alongside your hosting products. This article summarizes what the integration offers and where to learn more.

About HostBill and OpenSRS

HostBill is a third-party billing and client management application built for hosting providers and resellers. The OpenSRS integration ships as a built-in module inside HostBill, so once your reseller credentials are configured, you can provision and manage OpenSRS services directly from the HostBill admin area without switching tools.

Services available through the integration

The HostBill integration exposes three OpenSRS service lines to resellers:

  • Domain names — Provision and manage domain names, including all generic top-level domains (gTLDs), from the HostBill admin area.
  • Name suggestions — Use the OpenSRS name suggestion tool, powered by DomainsBot, built into HostBill so customers can find an available domain quickly.
  • SSL certificates — Sell SSL certificates from five leading brands directly through HostBill.

Note: HostBill is developed and maintained by a third party. For installation, licensing, and configuration of HostBill itself, refer to the vendor documentation linked below.

Next steps

  • Confirm your reseller account is active — You need an active OpenSRS reseller account and API credentials before HostBill can provision services on your behalf.
  • Review the HostBill setup guide — Follow the vendor instructions to install the OpenSRS module and enter your reseller username and API key in HostBill.
  • Whitelist your server IP — Add the outbound IP of your HostBill server to your OpenSRS reseller account's API access rules so calls to the OpenSRS API succeed.
  • Explore other integrations — If you also run WHMCS, see the companion articles for the OpenSRS Domains Pro WHMCS module and WHMCS troubleshooting.
