Installing an SSL Certificate

Once your trust service order is processed, the certificate provider emails installation instructions to the admin contact. This article points to the installation guides each provider maintains so you can deploy the certificate on your web server.

Before you begin

  • Order status: Confirm the trust order shows Product — Active in the Reseller Control Panel.
  • Issued certificate files: Locate the provider's email or download the certificate from the guest portal.
  • Server access: Have administrative access to the web server that will host the certificate.
  • Private key: Have the matching private key generated alongside the CSR.

Step 1: Open the provider's installation guide

Select the guide that matches your certificate provider:

Warning: — the source article references GeoTrust, Thawte, and Symantec installation pages for products that were discontinued on September 30, 2020. Use current provider documentation only.

Step 2: Follow the server-specific instructions

  1. Choose the section of the provider guide that matches your web server (for example, Apache, IIS, Nginx).
  2. Upload the issued certificate and intermediate chain to the server.
  3. Reference the matching private key in the server configuration.
  4. Restart the web server to load the new certificate.

Step 3: Verify the certificate

  1. Open https://yourdomain.tld in a browser and confirm the padlock appears with no warnings.
  2. Use an external SSL checker to confirm the certificate chain and expiry date.

Next steps

  • Schedule renewal reminders: Note the expiry date and renew before the certificate lapses.
  • Monitor the certificate: Track the product status in the RCP for revocation or renewal events.
  • Update internal documentation: Record where the certificate is deployed for future maintenance.
