Site Statuses

OpenSRS Cloud Hosting is currently in closed beta and is available only to participating resellers. To sign up for Cloud Hosting, visit opensrs.com/hosting

Every hosting site displays a status in the Hosting Manager that reflects its current state. This article explains what each status means and what actions are available to you.

Site Statuses

Draft

Your site has been created and is ready to build, but has not yet been made public. Draft Mode is a protected environment - your site is not accessible to outside visitors.

You remain in Draft until you add a custom domain and complete SSL/TLS setup. For full details, refer to the Draft Mode Guide article.

Active

Your site is live and publicly accessible. DNS is resolving if your domain is pointing to us, and all site features are fully available.

A site becomes Active after completing the go-live process from Draft, after being reactivated from Inactive, or after being restored from Deleted.

Inactive

Your site has been deactivated. It remains fully intact in the hosting backend — no data is lost — but is no longer accessible to the public. DNS stops resolving and external traffic is blocked.

While Inactive, the following access rules apply:

  • SFTP — you can still connect to your site files
  • WordPress Admin and phpMyAdmin — not available until the site is reactivated

To reactivate, navigate to the Settings tab and reactivate the site. It will return to Active shortly after.

Deleted

Your site has been deleted. Deleted sites are retained for 30 days, during which time they can be restored. After 30 days, the site is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

To restore a deleted site, locate it in the Sites List and follow the restore prompts. It will return to Active shortly after.

Failed

Site creation did not complete successfully due to a provisioning error. The site will need to be recreated. If this happens repeatedly, contact support at cloudhosting@opensrs.com.

Status Indicators

In addition to the site statuses above, the Hosting Manager may display the following status indicators.

Action Required

Action Required appears when your site needs attention before it can continue operating normally. This indicator takes priority in the Hosting Manager and will display in place of your site’s current status until the issue is resolved.

Common reasons a site may show Action Required include:

  • Initial site setup incomplete — a required step was not finished during the order flow
  • Import or restore failed — a site import or backup restore did not complete successfully
  • SSL/TLS CNAME verification failed — the _acme-challenge CNAME record could not be detected or is incorrect

In each case, the Hosting Manager will indicate what action is needed. Follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue and return your site to its previous status.

If you are unable to resolve the issue, contact support at cloudhosting@opensrs.com.

Processing

Processing is a temporary indicator displayed when the platform is actively performing an operation on your site. You may see it during:

  • Site initialization — when a new order is first being set up (typically 5–15 minutes)
  • Activation — when a site is transitioning from Inactive to Active
  • Deactivation — when a site is being set to Inactive

While Processing, some site details and actions are temporarily unavailable. The site may also briefly display a 503 error.

No action is required. The status will update automatically once the operation is complete.

Importing

Importing is displayed when a site import or migration is in progress after a site has been created. If you selected the Import option during initial site creation, the import takes place while the site is in Processing.

No action is required. The status will update automatically once the import is complete. If the import fails, the site will display Action Required.

Restoring

Restoring is displayed when a backup restore is in progress.

No action is required. The status will update automatically once the restore is complete. If the restore fails, the site will display Action Required.
