.MY domain policies

.MY is the TLD for Malaysia and is regulated by mynic.my/en (MYNIC Berhad). There is no Local Presence requirement for second level .MY domain names.

ICANN Registrant Verification

Beginning June 20, 2024, the .MY TLD will operate as a standard gTLD and undergo the ICANN verification process. More information can be found here.

Registration details

Registration details can be found in the TLD reference chart.

MYNIC will no longer accept registrations for .my domains from Israel country. This restriction applies to both registrations and modifications, including changes of address to an Israeli town and country.

Renewals

The TLD acts as a gTLD. Renewal requests should be submitted before the expiry date to renew a domain. Please check the TLD Reference chart for more on the domain lifecycle.

Owner changes

Completing the ICANN trade process completes the registrant verification process. Registrants must verify the new contact info as part of the process. Only the new address receives the registrant verification request.

Authcode is required.

Third level .MY, .com.MY, .NET.MY, & ORG.MY policies

.MY is the TLD for Malaysia and is regulated by mynic.my/en (MYNIC Berhad).  The registrant contact must be based in Malaysia.

MYNIC will no longer accept registrations for .my domains from Israel country. This restriction applies to both registrations and modifications, including changes of address to an Israeli town and country.

Residency requirements

  • Commercial entities must supply a company registration number obtained through malaysia.gov.my/en/business.
  • Individuals need to provide an ID number found on a Malaysian identification card (Kad Pengenalan).
    • .COM.MY: Malaysian commercial organizations/activities
    • .NET.MY: Malaysian network-related organizations/activities
    • .ORG.MY: Malaysian organizations/activities which do not qualify for other categories

Renewals

Renewal requests should be submitted before the domain’s expiry date to renew the domain. Auto-renew can be removed up to ~11 days before the domain expires; otherwise, the domain will renew.
