This guide will explain how to manually migrate SystemDNS zones from the OpenSRS Reseller Control Panel to Storefront’s Shopco DNS so that your customers can access and manage their own DNS records.
Customers using OpenSRS SystemDNS nameservers will not be able to edit their DNS records from within Storefront. DNS changes for those zones will need to be made in OpenSRS. The SystemDNS zones will continue to resolve and function, but the customers will not be able to edit the DNS themselves in Storefront.
If you want your customers to be able to edit their DNS in Storefront, the domain must use Shopco DNS, and you will need to manually recreate and migrate the DNS using the steps below.
Retrieving DNS zones from the Reseller Control Panel
- In the Domains section of the Reseller Control Panel, enter all or part of the domain name and click Search.
- Click the domain you wish to view.
- Scroll down to the DNS section and copy any records you wish to bring over.
Managing DNS for a Storefront end-user
In Storefront Manager, you can view and manage your customers. You can also log in as your customer to manage any services.
- Log into Storefront Manager.
- Select the Customers tab.
- A list of your customers is displayed. Click the customer name.
- To access your customer's account, press Login as Customer.
- Click on the domain name or hit Manage.
- In the DNS Records section, select Add DNS Record.
- Adjust the record type if needed, enter DNS information, and hit Add Record to save.
- In the Nameservers section, select Reset to default to change the DNS to default Storefront nameservers, then click Confirm.
Note: Unless the Shopco Storefront Nameservers are utilized, added DNS records will not take effect.
