This guide explains how you can manage your customers’ DNS records and name servers directly within Storefront, without needing to log in as the customer. These tools make it easier to provide support and ensure customers’ domains are configured correctly.
DNS Management
What You Can Do
You can view, edit, add, and delete DNS records for domains that use Shopco DNS. This includes making quick updates to A, CNAME, MX, TXT, and other record types.
How to View DNS Records
- Go to a Domain Details page in Storefront.
- Scroll to the DNS section.
- If the domain uses Shopco DNS, you’ll see a table of all current DNS records.
- Each record shows the type, name, value, and TTL.
Note: If the domain isn’t using Shopco Name Servers, the DNS section will display an advisory message. You’ll still be able to view the existing records, but editing options will be limited.
How to Edit DNS Records
- Click Edit next to the record you want to change.
- Update the field values (such as record name or value).
- Click Save to apply your changes.
How to Add New DNS Records
- In the DNS Records section, click Add Record.
- Choose the record type (A, CNAME, MX, TXT, etc.).
- Enter the required information and click Save.
How to Delete DNS Records
- Click Delete next to the record you want to remove.
- Confirm when prompted.
Resetting DNS Records
You can reset a domain’s DNS settings to the default configuration or to a predefined template (if one is available):
- Go to the DNS section.
- Click Reset to Default.
- Confirm the action.
Name Server Management
What You Can Do
You can also view and change the name servers associated with a domain. This allows you to update which DNS provider manages the domain’s DNS settings.
How to View Name Servers
- From the Domain Details page, scroll to the Name Servers section.
- You’ll see the list of name servers currently configured for the domain.
How to Edit Name Servers
- Click Edit Name Servers.
- Enter the new name servers.
- Click Save to confirm your changes.
Supported DNS Providers
Currently, Shopco DNS is the only supported provider for DNS management in Storefront.
Tips & Best Practices
- Always double-check record values before saving changes.
- Allow a few minutes for DNS changes to propagate globally.
- Use the Reset DNS option with caution—it will overwrite all current DNS records.
