How to enable/disable Designated Agent (DA) for COR process

Shortlink: opensrs.help/enable-da

The Change of Registrant process for gTLD domains now requires the approval from the current registrant as well as the new registrant. As an alternative, the Designated Agent option can be used to give authority to the registrar to auto-approve contact changes on behalf of the registrant.

Trade with DA

  1. Log in to Reseller Control Panel.
  2. Click on the Domains tab.
  3. Search for the domain name that requires contact modification and click on the domain name.
  4. Click Edit next to Contact information, make the necessary change, and click Save.
  5. You will be presented with two options.
    • Waive email confirmation (Enable DA)
    • Opt-out of 60-day transfer lock

Configure these options according to your needs.

If the waive email confirmation option is selected, an IP address will be required when submitting the request. Please ask the registrant to provide their IP address.

Waive email confirmation enabled

Opt-out of 60-day transfer enabled

An email will be dispatched to the new registrant's email address. Once the registrant accepts the update, the ICANN trade will complete, and the domain will not be subjected to the 60-day registrar transfer lock.

Waive email confirmation enabled

Opt-out of 60-day transfer disabled

An email will be sent to the new registrant's email address. Once the registrant accepts the update, the ICANN trade will complete, and the domain will be locked to the registrar for 60 days.

If both options are disabled and you choose to continue with the Change of registrant option, then the current and the new registrant will receive an email that must be approved for the trade to complete.

The screen now shows three new buttons above the contact information for the domain. By default, the page displays the new contact information that you submitted.

Resend confirmation to new registrant as email Resends the ICANN Trade approval email to the new registrant. As long as this button displays Resend confirmation to new registrant as email, the new registrant has yet to approve their side of the verification procedure.
Cancel trade Cancels the contact change request

Once the new registrant approves their verification email, the button will automatically change to Resend confirmation to the existing Registrant. The current owner has the option to waive the 60-day transfer lock in case you might want to transfer the domain to another registrar within 60 days. If for any reason, the current registrant is unable to approve the contact update through email, the trade can be accepted by using the SMS option. To send an SMS to the existing registrant, click the button Resend confirmation to existing registrant. You will be presented with two options:

  • By email
  • By SMS

Click the SMS checkbox and click Send. In case the current owner's phone number is invalid, the reseller can update the current registrant details with a new, valid mobile phone number. Updating just a registrant’s phone number is not considered as a change of registrant by the ICANN transfer policy, and we will process the phone number update without the need for any confirmation.

Once the phone number is updated, the reseller can then resend the confirmation email to the new, updated phone number. If you enter a different phone number other than what is added for the owner contact while sending the SMS, the new phone number will automatically be updated for the owner contact.

Once the update has been approved by the new registrant and the old registrant, the control panel will reflect the new registrant's contact details, and both the registrants will receive a confirmation email from OpenSRS.
